InsectID ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address to create your account.
- Photos: Images you submit for identification are sent to our servers solely for processing. They are not permanently stored.
- Usage data: We track the number of identifications performed per month to enforce free-tier limits.
- Device information: Basic device data (OS version, app version) for crash reporting and compatibility.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide insect identification results.
- To manage your account and subscription status.
- To enforce usage limits for free-tier users.
- To improve the accuracy of our AI models (only anonymized, aggregate data).
3. Data Retention
Photos submitted for identification are processed in real time and are not retained on our servers after the response is delivered. Identification history is stored locally on your device only.
Account information (email, usage count) is retained while your account is active. Upon account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days.
4. Third-Party Services
- Google Sign-In: Used for authentication. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat: Used to manage in-app subscriptions. Subject to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): Our backend infrastructure. Data is processed in the United States.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We share data only with the service providers listed above, to the extent necessary to operate the app.
6. Your Rights
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data.

7. Children's Privacy
InsectID is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
